NSUCRYPTO-2026: the First round is completed

At the completion of the first round, there were 1,140 registrations from 49 countries around the world. This is an absolute record.
Natalia Tokareva, the permanent Chair of the Olympiad’s Programm Committee: “Let me share some exclusive up‑to‑date information about the first round of the Olympiad. This, thirteenth, Olympiad, is so much different from the previous ones. We understand the new reality: rapid development of artificial intelligence has prompted us to completely revise our approach to creating and testing problems — we cannot stand aside. We prepare problems, taking into account the fact that participants will actively use neural networks. There's more: we welcome this, rather than trying to restrict it. We want to harness the power of neural networks to help solve complicated, sometimes unsolved in principle, research problems in cryptography. Having said that, I especially invite you, dear participants, to the second (team) round of the Olympiad, which starts on October 12 at 4 p.m. (UTC+7). Registration for the second round is available on the website https://nsucrypto.nsu.ru. Another interesting fact from first round: all the problems offered to school students, university students, and professionals were solved by the participants! For the most difficult tasks we received just a few correct solutions; some tasks were solved correctly more frequently. We draw these conclusions from a rapid analysis of the incoming solutions, which we conduct in real time with the Olympiad team. We received 2,144 solutions during the first round. That’s a record. It is encouraging to see the participants coming to compete with each other: different countries, organizations, and scientific scientific schools. I assume that you won’t find such a wide geography of participants (49 countries) at any other international Olympiads."
